Omar from RDU Auto in Raleigh, NC is as transparent as they come on what he gets right - and more importantly, what he gets wrong. Check out some of his recent car purchase hits and misses.
Omar’s Worst Buys
2024 BMW iX50: Originally priced at $96,000, he bought it for $41,000 (roughly half price in 12 months). He expects to lose money on it, likely selling it for around $39,000.
2009 Cadillac CTS-V: Paid $30,000 for this 18-year-old car with 20,000 miles. He considers it a bad buy because it lacks catalytic converters, requiring him to spend more on parts, headers, and tuning.
BMW X5 M50: Purchased for $40,000 with 79,000 miles. He initially listed it for $41,000 but believes the high mileage is deterring buyers, leading him to plan a price drop to $39,000.
2019 Corvette: Paid $50,000 for this six-to-seven-year-old car with 16,000 miles, might only be worth $40K.
Omar’s Best Buy
2015 Toyota Sienna: Purchased for $14,000 with 133,000 miles. He has it listed for $17,000 and expects it to sell within a week.
Why it's a winner: He recommends it for Uber or Turo because the Sienna is more reliable than the Honda Odyssey, leading to a lower cost of ownership and higher profit.
