One of the most unique things we’re focused on is coming up with a scoring system for used electric vehicles (EVs). There are numerous efficiency ratings and studies out there, such as:

  • Bloomberg Green: Focuses on efficiency and manufacturing resource intensity.

  • Electrifying.com E-Rating: Uses an algorithm considering efficiency, recharge speed, and extra features (e.g., heat pumps).

  • Consumer Reports: Focuses on "plug/unplug ease," route planning, and app usability.

  • ACEEE Green Cars: Evaluates tailpipe emissions, fuel economy, and vehicle/battery mass.

We’re looking at things a bit differently. The main factors for our scoring are:

  • Battery Health

  • Charging System and Electrical Integrity

  • Powertrain & Drive Unit

  • Software & Updates

We’ll have more to share on this specific topic, as we know there is a growing EV following, and we want to help guide those buying decisions as best we can.

More EV tidbits to consider

  • Really great job by Zach here, giving us his thoughts/financial breakdown on his Tesla Model 3 after six years of ownership. Tires lasting 55K miles were one of the biggest surprises, but check out the video, as there are plenty of great nuggets for those of us that are fascinated with what owning an EV would be like.

  • If anyone wants to get a newer car review of the Model Y, Zach did a nice job with a review of his Juniper model after his first 3K miles of driving as well.

Thanks for reading everybody!
