I’ve always been obsessed with Toyota Land Cruisers and recently came across one that had quite a bit of miles (200K +) on it, but was priced well at just over $20K.
In looking at the CARFAX, it appeared that both owners have done a nice job keeping the vehicle maintained, which I always like to see. But the thing that stood out came from the most recent service date: “Drivability/performance checked”.

This note could mean all sorts of things, but it signifies that a vehicle has undergone professional inspection for potential issues with its engine, transmission, or electrical systems.
Key points to keep in mind are:
It often acts as a red flag, indicating that the vehicle has experienced serious or recurring mechanical, powertrain, or acceleration problems.
While it can sometimes relate to routine maintenance, it frequently denotes that a technician evaluated and repaired issues affecting the vehicle's operation.
Because this can indicate major, costly repairs, a thorough independent, pre-purchase inspection is highly recommended to ensure any underlying issues were permanently resolved.
The only peace of mind is taking actionable advice and getting a pre-purchase inspection from a qualified mechanic.
Thanks for reading everybody!
