Torque News has a cool write-up regarding Tesla Cybertruck resale values. Here’s the gist:

  • Value Retention Turnaround: Cybertruck resale values are stabilizing and slowly increasing. This is a significant shift from a couple of years ago when trade-in values were dropping rapidly (with some trucks bought for over $100,000 plunging to less than $60,000 in just a few months).

  • Real-World Example: A Cybertruck owner named Nestor Ramos shared that he received an official Tesla trade-in estimate of $76,100 for his 2025 All-Wheel Drive variant. He originally purchased the truck brand new for $79,900, meaning it lost only $3,800 (about $0.14 per mile) after a full year of ownership and 21,000 miles.

  • Third-Party Market Comparison: While Tesla's direct trade-in offers are highly competitive, values on third-party platforms like CarMax and Carvana for a used Cybertruck are slightly lower, currently ranging from the high $60,000s to the low $70,000s.

  • The Catalyst: The market stabilization and subsequent rise in used prices appear to be driven by the successful introduction of the cheaper $59,900 Cybertruck variant, which has already seen high demand.

Getting a car inspection score on an EV car or truck is something we’re working on in the lab. Stay tuned!
